The Outsiders led by Alfred Pennyworth fight an ancient race of immortals called the Insiders and get drawn into a war involving Ra's al Ghul and Vandal Savage. Eventually they hunt Pyg down to the Bonus Brothers Carnival and stop his plan to release an airborne narcotic that spreads addiction like a virus. Pyg's freaks the Circus of Strange attack GCPD Headquarters and he tries to turn Robin into a horrifying Dollotron.
Main article: Batman and Robin: Batman Rebornĭick Grayson and Damian Wayne debut as Batman and Robin in their hovering Batmobile when a new villain calling himself Professor Pyg comes to Gotham. During this battle Barbara learns to respect Stephanie, and pledges over a candle to assist her in their never-ending fight against evil. They're forced to work together when Scarecrow begins pushing a new drug through Gotham University. Peter Tomasi's ongoing Outsiders volume is also tied in to this event.Ĭassandra Cain retires and passes the mantle of Batgirl to Stephanie Brown, although Barbara Gordon disapproves. Judd Winick begins a new run on Batman and Greg Rucka begins writing Batwoman in Detective Comics ending the months-long hiatus on both series following Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?. Miller's Batgirl, Grant Morrison's Batman and Robin, Paul Dini's Batman: Streets of Gotham, Dini's Gotham City Sirens and Christopher Yost's Red Robin.
